Yes they are working perfectly fine in the SAP GUI inbox and also from the
UWL on portals.
But not from the Portals workflow inbox .

I assume the WFs are working via SAP GUI inbox?
If so, do you have them Web enabled?
Also, we had issues with IE5.5 after an IE security patch was installed.
Moved to IE6 and some problems went away.
 
Would need more info to go any further. Might help if you did
a search for UWL, Portals, etc. from this list.

Currently I am unable to execute any workitems from the workflow inbox on
portals.
I can view the list of workitems though. But Execute button is greyed out.
How do we activate the "execute" button in the workflow inbox iview ?

Hello Gurus,
 
We have EP6.0 and CRM4.0. We have configured the workitems of CRM system to
show up in the
EP6 workflow inbox(not UWL) iview. When we click on the workitems it shows
up the detail data screen in the bottom of the screen with
various workitem options like Forward, put back, Accept, confirm and
Execute.  The problem I am facing right now is "Execute"
button is greyed out and I cannot execute the workitem from Portal workflow
inbox.
I appreciate any of your help in activating this workitem execute
functionality.
