Jerry,
This is the OSS Note about the new "Extended Email notifications" program that has been a hot topic over the last couple of months in the SAP-WUG.

The reason the code is not freely available is that the program is effectively in a ramp-up mode - i.e. it works, it's tested, but it has only been implemented at a few sites so far. Understandably SAP doesn't want everyone implementing a brand new program before it has been given a thorough work out at sufficient live customer sites to ensure any teething problems have been resolved - whether program problems or documentation/configuration confusion. That's why the program is not generally available.

This is also why you need to apply to SAP to get this program - similar to the way you have to apply to be a "ramp-up" customer for new releases of SAP solutions. By applying to SAP both you and SAP benefit as follows:

* You get the code earlier than most customers and can take advantage of the new functionality
* You get a higher level of support for any teething problems

* SAP gets to diagnose and resolve any teething problems before many customers start using the program
* SAP gets to make sure you have implemented the program as designed and that our documentation/instructions are clear to you and others
* SAP gets to see how you want to use it in practice so that we can feed any changes into future enhancements

Once SAP is happy that the program is ready for general use it will be put into an automatic note correction or similar so that any customer can get the code.

If you urgently need or want this new functionality then please contact SAP as stated in the message.
If you don't need it urgently but are just interested in the new functionality, then you may prefer to wait until the new code is generally available.

Suggest you have a look at the SAP-WUG archive for previous discussions on what this new program will do for you.

Hi,

Has anyone installed the mentioned OSS note and if you did, how did you
acquire the software?

The note also makes reference to that you need an SAP Workflow consultant to
do the initial setup. What does this mean and what's so difficult about it
that we can't do it ourselves?

We are currently running on SAP 46C, using Outlook with MAPI for our
workflow.

Thank you
Jerry Martinek
