Status events: Bus. object not available for input

Greetings all, 

I need to add an event to status management - BSVW, but my business object is
invalid or not available in the dropdown. No problem so far, this is partly
controlled by table TBO00. So I checked it and the entry for my status object
is missing. 

I know what's needed and tried to add it but it won't let me as the "Object can
only be created in SAP package" - we're not allowed to touch it. Even the doco
states: 
The relevant information is located in the system table TBO00 , which is
maintained and supplied by SAP. 

This is something that OSS can (and should) help me with, but ... the client
needs this working within the next 30 seconds and recent experience with OSS
has been less than favourable, hence I'm asking here on a long shot if anyone
has bumped into this and found a plan B. And yes, I've searched for notes.

Oh, it's CRM 4.0, the objects in question are PR / BUS2172 (Project).
