Trip Mgmt - Event for Open Status

G'day all,
 
I'm on a 620 system and trying to make some changes to a Trip Approval
Workflow. The customer uses Settlement Status of 'Open' to indicate that
the trip has been rejected. At the moment no event is raised when the only
change is to move the trip to an 'Open' Settlement Status.
 
Does anyone know if this is possible? Does Trip Mgmt use the standard
concept of Status Management and  it's therefore possible to raise an event
that way?
 
I would guess that a lot of sites use the CANCELLED or DELETE events, but
unfortunately those don't apply here.
 
Any info greatly appreciated.
