Sending deadline items to Microsoft Outlook

If you use the standard deadline, SAP creates a deadline workitem. That will
not be auto-forwarded since it's a workitem. If you go to your deadline tab
on the task, you see the option to switch to modeled deadline. If you choose
this option, workflow builder will create an outcome for the deadline being
reached. In this branch, you can insert a sendmail step to notify somebody
that the deadline has been met. (All explained within the SAP Help) The
sendmail creates an email that will get forwarded to the users outlook (or
where ever). Aside from having to add the sendmail step, the modeled
deadline works pretty much the same as the standard. The original workitem
will remain intact. (Don't confuse the modeled deadline I described with the
model deadline you can generate via the wizard that allows you to cancel the
workitem and proceed down a different processing path.)

Hi Bradley

We have a requirement to do this too. I have changed the configuration as
explained, set the user's communication method to E-Mail and there is a
valid user name there. Yet it still does not work I only receive the
deadline item in SAP. I checked to see if an entry was in TXN SCOT but there
was nothing there. Any idea what else could be the problem ? We are using
version 4.7.

Regards
Marc.

Hi Kathleen,

My suggestion would be a more strategic approach. Have all SAP mail
redirected to a user's Outlook or enterprise mail system. This can be done
by changing a system setting within SAP and by assigning each user id an
e-mail address within SAP (Trans SU01). Change the setting in transaction
SO16 - (Tab - Mail sy.grp) Send to home addresses of users. With this
setting, SAP will automatically attempt to redirect all SAP Mail for a user
(not workitems) from the SAP Inbox to their (in your case) Outlook mail.
This will only happen for a user if that user has an email address set up
for their user-id (SU01) and their communication method is set to E-Mail
(Comm.Meth = E-Mail). For users without those settings, it continues to
distribute messages via SAP Inbox. So this function can be switch on for
some users and not for others or more importantly, you can phase in this
approach as e-mail addresses are added.

Hello all,

In our workflow development for approving purchase requisitions, we been
able to send e-mail notifications to Outlook when an approver receives a
workflow in their business workplace in-box, by using program RSWUWFML.

We are currently in the process of setting up deadline monitoring to
remind users to approve requisitions.

When using 'Simple' deadline monitoring, we have learned that workflow
sends overdue messages to the users Inbox/Deadline_Messages folder.
However, we would like to forward these deadline messages to Outlook.
We do not want to use SAP MAPI. Is there a program that would do this
without using SAP MAPI?
