Go the service.sap.com site - if you add /mdm to the end of the url you =
will read all about it.

Hi Jocelyn.

Do you know where I can find more information about this MDM solution?

Thanks in advance

Claus.

Hi Folks,
If you are doing workflows of this sort please also look at SAP's =
Master
Data Management (MDM) solution=20
- early days yet but this does pretty much what you are after. Worth
investigating. Regards,

Hello Tomasz,

Thanks a lot for your kind response. Your valuable insight to the =
subject is
very helpful and appreciated. It will definitely help in the design an
prototyping of my workflow.

I am really glad, we have the opportunity to pose questions to this =

Hello Thad,

MSTA and MOFF will be of the biggest significance for you. The first =
one
indicates which views have already been created. The latter one shows =
which
should still be created (at least -- which the system "thinks" it =
needs).

For raising the workflow -- forget ...ViewCreated, but use
BUS1001006.Created (or have your own event raised when a change =
document is
written for material master). Then respond to this event with your =
workflow.
BUS1001006.ViewCreated is rather useful to cancel work items already =
sitting
in someone's inbox.

Best regards,
Tomasz

P.S.1 By the way -- there's also a very useful MOFF business object. =
Have a
look -- it complements BUS1001006 pretty nicely. Looking back at the
workflow I've done I'd exploit it even more. Somehow the materials =
workflow
seems rather to evolve around material VIEWS than the material master
"header-level" record...

P.S.2 If you have any more questions, feel free to ask further. It will =
be
my pleasure to help

Hi Claus,

Thanks for the input. There are a few tables containing the maintenance
status field. I am aware of MSTA, MOFF, MARC, and MARA.

The tricky part is that during the creation of a material there are =
four
bus1001006.viewcreated raised and we want to trigger the workflow once. =
Then
there are material extensions being uploaded to SAP and, again,
1001006.viewcreated is raised more than once. This picture seems to be
complicated farther by the lack of a plant number on the event/object =
level.

If you or anyone else has gone through a similar exercise and could =
share
your ideas, before my engaging in coding complex attributes, I would =
very
appreciate it.

Regards,
Thad Gorbal

Hi Thad.

Yes, the maintenance status is a possible solution. I check on this in =
a
start condition of a material master WF.

Subject: Material Master WF

Hello All:

I have a request to build a material master workflow which would =
control
creation of appropriate views by appropriate agents.

Material creation/extension requests are fed to SAP form an outside =
system
via Idoc/Ale. The event BUS1001006.Created seems to be good for =
material
creation request, but it is not raised for the material extensions to =
other
plants.

I have been considering using just the BUS1001006.VIEWCREATED event to
trigger my WF. However, I am not quite sure how to control starting
workflow, since multiple such events are raised at the new material =
request
as well as the extension of one.

Your hints and tips would be very appreciated. It looks like the =
maintenance
status could be useful.

Thanks in advance,
Thad Gorbal
