[Fwd: Workflow in EBP - hanging on initiation]

Hi Sue, If you are playing around with shopping cart approvals watch your step! You need to follow the
pattern given in the standard workflows very closely - e.g. you need to implement agents using ad hoc
agent assignment to keep all SRM/EBP functionality working.
The book has a chapter on this and if you have my presentation from ASUG that should also help a bit.
Good luck!

Hello again,
It turns out there are (at least) 2 OSS notes which apply in our situation. They are 587123 and
620183, and have to do with the holding or deleting of shopping carts, which causes improper
workflow initiations.

Never mind,
Sue

Greetings all,

We have a custom workflow for shopping cart approvals (BUS2121). This workflow is started when a
user saves a shopping cart in EBP (version 3.5). Sometimes, the workflow starts, and then goes into
a wait state on the very first step. Technically, the step is 'In Process'. The object is in the
container and is instantiated. After an undetermined amount of time, the workflow will progress.
But the technical workflow log does not indicate that this workflow was on hold for any period of
time. So, we are at a loss as to
1) Why is the workflow 'stuck' on the initial step
2) Is this some kind of timing issue
3) Is the workflow log not being updated correctly

Our R3 system is 4.6c for what it's worth.

Any help would be appreciated!
Sue
