Inserting URL's in work item texts

Hi All,
I want to insert a URL is a work item description so that when a user looks
at the work ityem in their inbox, they can click on the hyperlink in the WI
text and it open a browser and go to the site.
I have looked in the text editor and typing in a simple URL does not create
a hyperlink in the work item text.
Any help would be appreciated.
