When a PR changed in the middle of workflow..

In standard SAP, with Purchase Requisition release strategies, you may
only have header level release (all or nothing) or item level release. You
will have to write custom code to do something like this, but I am
curious, what is the business rationale for this process? Doesn't sound
logical without additional details.

With header or item level, items could be added and a new release strategy
would be determined based upon your Classification Characteristics values,
only if you have the Release Indicator selected that allows changes AFTER
approval, this does not prevent changes in the middle of the WF.

Thanks Cathy and Carolyn,

I didn't point out that my customer wants to use a release condition at
the item level. But the blocking must be set at the header level.
That is, if a condition is matched, some PR items are blocked and the
workflow started. But a new item can be added to the PR at this situation
nevertheless the pre-entered items are blocked.

What do you think about this?

Chris

Chris,

Carolyn is correct. You can control this via the Release Indicator
function within the Release Configuration (for both PRs and POs). The
question that Carolyn asked is, what do you do if the item is rejected?
There should be no impact as the Release Indicator that we are talking
about here will only not allow changes AFTER the document has been fully
approved. If there are changes in the PR after the WF Event has started,
your WF will only be impacted if a NEW release strategy is determined.
Play around with this some, and you will see what I am talking about. Let
me know if you have additional questions about how to configure this.

Cathy

Chris,

I was not involved with the implementation of the requisition
workflow here at MIT, so I have not done any workflow or release
strategy configuration. But, from what I can see in release strategy
configuration (OMGQ), you should be able to block changes after the
release process has begun. Check out the soft button, "Release
indicator." Within that popup, "Release indicator" seems to allow for
this control.

But, if you do block changes, what happens when it is rejected?
