Function module SAP_WAPI_READ_CONTAINER

Hi workflowers!
 
I am developing some custom screens to be inserted in the "extra" tab of
some decision steps in workflow, to be called at workitem display. In these
screens I need to call some data from the workflow containers. To do this I
was thinking about using function module SAP_WAPI_READ_CONTAINER (thanks
Jocelyn and Alan for your book;-) but unfortunately it does not exist in
45B.
 
Has anyone some suggestions about possible alternatives to that function
module?
