Object Services

Every transaction that we are processing is a sales order at this
client. The problem is that the sales order transaction does not include
Object Services as a standard feature. I know the function module that I
could use that will allow me to report the workflows that have been
processed for the business object associated with a sales order but what
I need to provide is the ability to start a workflow manually during
sales order processing.
 
The Practical Workflow book contains the code to include Object Services
into your own code but my question is: has anyone ever added the code to
include Object Services in the sales order transaction? And if so, what
is the user-exit that you included the code in?
