Date Arithmetic

Hi Guys,
 
Am I doing something wrong or is there no way to add a day to a date container
element using a container operation?
 
For Example, If i have a container element which is declared as syst-datum and
i want to add 1 day to it. If i try to do this in a container operation it
tells me that '1' is not a valid date format. Do I really have to create a
method to do this?
