Re-assigning work items

Hi,
 
You have not mentioned if you use PD Org or not....if you do, it is possible
to setup the substitute directly in PD Org by creating a relationship (I
believe the relationship is A/B 010). If you setup this relationship,
workitems created thereafter should automatically flow to the new position.
For workitems already in the user's inbox, the workflow administrator should
be able to forward these workitems to the new user.

We have a workflow where items are sent to only one person via a custom
role.
That person is not at work and did not set up a substitute.
 
How do you re-assign work items from that person?
