time for escalation of dialog workitems

hi workflowers,
 
by checking the time for escalation in dialog workitems there is a
possibility to put in a time hardly.
 
Is there also a way to put in this time as parameter because of dynamic
definition the time frame for checking? If it is possible the customer would be
able to define the time for himself without needing special know how for
workflow definition in SAP R/3.
