Archiving SOFM-Objects

Hi Workflowers,
I want to archive an object of type SOFM, so it can be accessed =
directly
from the archive-system (not via SAP).
There is a method SOFM.Archive, which I can't use because this method =
stores
the SOFM-Object in an internal format to the archive-system and when =
you
access this object again from R/3, it is reloaded into the R/3 =
database.
I want to access this document (an incoming mail) directly from the
archive-system.=20
Do I have to convert it into TXT-format before archiving or is there a
possibility to convert it to TIF before archiving?
Any help would be very much appreciated.
