forcing workitems into error

Hi Sheldon,
I don't think there is any way to manually force a work item into error,
however if you correct the container data, using transaction SWI1 you can
select the work item row in the result list and use the menu option Edit > Work item >
Execute background work item to re-execute it in the background. Which might be
enough.

Subject: forcing workitems into error

Hello WF'ers,

I have a workitem that is stuck 'in process' in a background step. I have
determined the cause to be a continuous loop in my method code - the loop is
caused by some unusual data passed in by the workflow. I know I can change the
container data of the workitem, but is there any way to force the workitem into
error, make the container changes, and restart the workitem so re-tries? Is
there a better way to handle this type of situation?

Thanks,
Sheldon Skidmore
