Locked data between object method execution and Method AFTER WI execution

I have a problem with a task that I have created. It's a task that operates on the material object calling a custom method that fires up MM01 for a particular view. Once executed (saved) the workflow then fires off another MM01 section for a different view (they wanted to force the entering of both views...) and this is accomplished through an entry in the <Methods AFTER work item execution (modal call)>.
When it fires up this 2nd MM01 call I get the error "The group data for the material is locked by user <me>". I hit enter and it then goes through fine. It appears that the 2nd call is called too quickly so that the Material is not released in time. I tried waiting 5 seconds before the calling the 2nd MM01 and that didn't work. I then tried DEQUEUEing the material object that was locked in the code but that didn't work either. Any ideas?
