How is it possible to attach an office file to a worklow mail?

Hello,
I am developping a document validation process in DMS (Document Management System).  I'd like to attach a file (word file, excel file) which is linked to a DIR (Document Info Record) to a worklow mail. The office file is stored in a KPro. How is it possible to get the file in all steps of the validation process?
