Can master data transactions directly trigger workflow?

We are on 4.6C. There is an application which needs to know when certain
fields on a material change, or when certain fields on a BOM change, or when
certain fields on a routing change. These changes do not trigger change
documents.
 
Is there a way that I can attach transactions MM01/MM02/CS01/CS02 etc to
events? Then I can use starting conditions with these events to trigger the
workflow.
