This is a long shot but have you got 'Advance With Dialog' checked between
the decision and the release step. This should cause the next screen to pop
up immediately (as long as the Agent is valid).

Memo from Duncan M McGregor of PricewaterhouseCoopers

The problem...

I have set up a basic workflow for purchase order release. It is based upon
the SAP standard workflow template for purchase order release, (20000075
wf_po_rel) . There are basic changes against the tasks in the workflow. I
have copied the SAP standard tasks and have entered customer specific
notification texts etc. I am using a user decision to present the selected
agent with three options - Release order, Reject order and the standard
entry of leave work item in inbox. Following on from the selection of the
'Release option' the method 'SINGLERELEASE' is invoked. This is then
supposed to present the agent with a dialogue window for the release of the
purchase order. For the Reject order outcome of the user decision the agent
has to provide details of the rejection in a standard office document,
(using business object SOFM and method CREATE). I have created a standard
role, (Responsibility), which I have assigned to all steps. I have excluded
the workflow initiator from the execution of the workflow. Within the role
I have defined in the role container that the purchasing group and the
release code should be supplied to the role to be checked with the
responsibilities. Each responsibility has a set value for the purchasing
group and the release code. Against the responsibility I have assigned two
POSITIONS which are in turn linked to a PERSON which in turn is linked to a
USER. When testing the workflow the workflow creates the work item
correctly but seems to have problems with the role resolution. The agent
who recieves the first activity, the DECISION, can execute the decision
task by selecting one of the outcomes, (in this example the agent selects
the RELEASE outcome). The same agent should then receive the dialogue work
item to release the order but is not. Instead the other agent assigned to
the same responsibility in the same role is recieving the dialogue workitem
for performing the SINGLERELEASE on the purchase order. The workflow log
indicates that there is a problem evaluating the role which I have set up,
(the role with the responsibilities assigned to it). I have checked that
all of the tasks linked to my role are set to general tasks. I have checked
the role using the 'simulate role resolution' functionality from within the
role itself. I have had the workflow working when individual user records
are assigned directly to the responsibility. Can anybody advise me on a
course of action. Has anbody else experienced the same. If so what course
of action did you take.

Thanks for your help,
