Cross functional Batch Processing

As the workflow administrator, I received the following message in my
in-box:
 
The work item "Accounting Document Post" (ID 000000896363) of type B has
the status COMPLETED.
Initiate a correction measure so that the respective workflow (ID
000000896347) can be continued.
 
 
I'm not sure what corrective measure to take.  It appears as though the
document never posted, but it didn't go into error status, which usually
happens when there is a problem with the post.  Anyone ever run into this?
