you aree right maybe for Rel. 46C and higher;
 
Rel. 46B has not foreseen Selection Variables (at least up to HP44) ! =
Or do
you have a better information for us ?

You can use Selection Variables. They are maintained on the variant
attributes. With them you can create variable values, for example, =
current
date less 6 months.
