Workload analysis (SWI5) limitations

Hi Sander,
Yes you are right about SWI5 - that is aimed at looking at
what dialog tasks a user has performed/is yet to perform rather
than what business processes are incomplete. Hence the restriction
on dialog tasks (although I agree this is different from other reports -
but this one was written some time ago).

A better report to show incomplete business processes would be:
Transaction SWI14 (Workflows per object type - under the Runtime Tools menu)
- if your workflows are on based on 3 different
business object types as well. This lets you select only "Active",
i.e. incomplete, workflow instances, and does let you use the
WS and TG ids as parameters if you wish.

Another option is to use SWI1 and create a variant per workflow
administrator which picks up:
Type F
Task WSxxxxxxxx - whatever the id is
Status everything except completed or cancelled (logically deleted)

Hope that helps

Subject: Workload analysis (SWI5) limitations

Dear workflowers,

I have a question regarding the standard workflow management report 'Workload analysis' (transaction SWI5).

We have developed three different workflows for three different business processes. The functinal workflow administrators are only interested in the workload of the workflows they are assigned to, so I want to use only the task filter.

What hase wondered me the past few years, is that the selection criteria does not work as expected:

Task filters
- Task: search help (F1) sugests that it is possible to select a WS, but after entering a WS the programm prevents this: Enter a single-step task (T or TS)
- Task group: search help (F1) sugests that it is possible to select a WG, but after entering a TG the programm prevents this: Enter a task (Type T)
- Application component: it is not possible to assign application components anymore, so for my custom made workflows this is not a possible selection criteria.

Does anyone has an idea how we can report the list of not-completed work items per business process? This seems like an requirement several companies must have!
