I hope I'm not suggesting the obvious here;
you can delete workitems from the inbox
(at least from the point of view of being
able to see them) by highlighting the item
then selecting:
 
Workitem --> Additional Functions --> Change
 
>From that screen, there's a button to
delete the workitem logically.
 
All users should be able to do this,
unless you have revoked their access rights.
 
If you want to delete workitems that have
been around for a certain period of time
and are, hence, judged to be obsolete,
your best bet is to schedule a periodic archiving
job (transaction SARA) that will select those
created before date xx.yy.zzzz.
 
This is much more preferrable to deleting
entries from SWWWIHEAD directly.
