Hi Steve,
PFCG maintains security roles, these used to be called activity groups.
You can now assign tasks to one of these security roles - it's just
another way of assigning possible agents to a task.

PFAC maintains workflow roles, as of 4.6D these have been renamed to
be workflow RULES (don't you just love terminology!) presumably to avoid
confusion.

So basically ROLES are for security, including possible agent assignments
(which is really just security over tasks when you think about it),
and RULES are for determining selected agents (who of course must also
be possible agents if they are to receive the workitem.)

Neither affects how the workflow is triggered, just who are the agents
of the workflow.

I hope that helps.

Dear Experts,

There is Workflow tab in the Role Maintenance Transaction (TR code : PFCG)
when "Complete View" is selected.
It is provided to be used when organize the workflow execution rights, I
think.
How can I get detail information about that?
Must I maintain the workflow tasks in there to be used in system?
And, Is a workflow template trigered without the profile maintenance?

I know that there are some roles for workflow.
If I want to use that role, must I maintain a composite role?

Any information will be appreciated.
