Background Task hanging in 'In Process' Status

Pam,

Sounds a bit like a locking error which could happen occasionally when
another user is accessing a record which has to be modified by the task you
are describing (actually your workflow background user who tries to change
something).

Can occur when database updates are carried out by your customer task and
there is an error in your locking mechanism (no exception handling defined
or programmed when an object can not be locked by the workflow task; the
task may remain in process indefinitely).

Regards,

Jeroen

Subject: Background Task hanging in 'In Process' Status

Was wondering if anyone has encountered this and may have any suggestions.

We have a task that is a 3.0F/4.6B single step (not part of a workflow) that
is a background method that is running hundred times a day. The task is a
customer task that is event trigger from a change document. On occasion
(very, very seldom), the task seems to hang in 'In Process' status and never
complete. WF-BATCH is fine (since thousands work after it). Found no
issues in ST22.

I have gone into the workitem that is stuck in 'In Process' but couldn't see
anything through the diagnosis. Any suggestions as to why this may be
happening? Any suggestions to what we might do?

Thanks in advance for your help.
