Duplicate events for trip creation

Hi,
 
    I am using the REQUESTED event of BUS2089 ( Trip ) object
to trigger a workflow. Whan a trip is saved, two events are
generated triggering the workflow twice. The events occur in
sequence as REQUESTED - CHANGED- REQUESTED. Any suggestions in
avoiding duplicate events !!!
