Amount in Message text vs Amount in Object attributes

Dear All
 
Using the key of an event which was created for object
Recurrpay, I found the following problem.
 
In SWo1 when testing object Recurrpay with the event
key, the attribute for amount shows 1,600.00
When inserted into the text of a notification message,
it is displayed as 1.600,00.
 
Why does it change the comma and period around ?
 
This was found using the same user id (it is not the
user parameter settings for currency display).
 
Any ideas?
