Launching a frontend application from the SAP web GUI

Hi,
I am working in a 4.5b environment with integration to workplace via ITS. Is
there anyone who knows if it is standard SAP funtionality to be able to
launch a frontend program/browser to display an archived document from
within a workitem in the workplace inbox? If not are there any known
alternatives?
Any idea will be much appreciated.
