Work item replacing in 4.0B

I am having a problem with getting work items to be replaced once they have
been executed. I have noticed that for tasks with a synchronous method (in
this case FIPP.Change), once they are executed they go into status EXECUTED
and can not be replaced from the user inbox. When I attempt to replace it I
get the error: WL802 'Status change from COMMITTED to READY is not valid'.
The only way I have been able to replace them is through Edit > Change >
Replace manually. However, I do not want my users to have access to this.
I want them to be able to replace a work item from the inbox.

What I have tried so far:
1) I have tried using FIPP.Completion instead, which is an asynchronous
method. However, this will not allow me to exit the task unless I complete
the document and the user will not always be able to complete the document
at that time. They may need to just make changes to the document and then
send it on to another user, which is why I would rather use FIPP.Change.
2) I found a note on OSS that seemed somewhat related (note 192890).
Nevertheless, this did not solve my problem.

Any help that you can offer would be appreciated.

Darlene
