Problem with binding definition for roles

Hello all!
 
We have a recurring problem where workflow passes into status 'ERROR' with
the message WL412 'Message (warning/error) for binding from workflow to
role' and OL826 'Object does not exist'. I've found an OSS note (0114204)
dealing with this problem. However, the note applies to versions 4.0A - 4.0b
and 4.5A and we are currently on version 3.1H. Can anyone tell me if there
is a similar OSS note applicaple to version 3.1H ?
 
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
