1.) Our LAST Lessons of the Term are Next Week!
That's right! Another salsa semester finished. Our final lessons
will be taught Monday and Tuesday next week. Lessons will return in
June. Check the website for details.
AND make sure to join us at Mambos on Saturday nights during the break!
Lessons for next week:
Monday's Beginner Lesson Information:
Beginners are welcome; no experience or partner necessary.
The first half hour of the lesson (7-7:30) introduces new dancers to
salsa. In this half hour, you will learn the basic steps, the basic right
turn and the cross-body lead. From 7:30-8:30 we will be teaching new
material. All students already familiar with the basics should arrive to
class at 7:30 to learn new material.

Tuesday's Advanced Beginner Lesson Information:
7:00PM - 8:30PM (followed by social dancing). Advanced beginner
dancers should feel very comfortable with the basics of salsa
dancing, such as timing, the cross-body lead and inside/outside
turns.

Every May, MIT Salsa Club's Annual Salsa Social celebrates salsa
dancing in Greater Boston with a huge event. And every year it gets
bigger and better. This year, the Annual Salsa Social is part of a
3-day event: Boston's Spring Fling Salsa Weekend, Friday May 15 thru
Sunday May 17!
The MIT Salsa Social will be the MAIN EVENT of the weekend! AND for
this year's event, MIT Salsa Club is flying in one of the world's best
performance groups all the way from Caracas, Venezuela to perform for
all guests! Fusion Salsera Dancers will be arriving in Logan
International Friday to kick off one of our biggest salsa parties
ever!
Details of the Weekend:
DAY ONE: Friday, May 15
Welcoming Party for Venezuelan Dancers at Ryles Jazz Club! A big
pre-party at Ryles with dancing, partying and a teaser performance by
Fusion Salsera.
* Party begins at 9:30 and ends at 2am.
* A special performance by Fusion Salsera to kick off the
weekend.
* Admission is only $5 until 11pm! $10 after 11pm.
DAY TWO: Saturday, May 16
The MAIN EVENT! The 4th Annual MIT Salsa Social. In collaboration with
Mambos Entertainment and Rumba y Timbal, this year's event will
celebrate the conclusion of MIT Salsa Club's fall and spring lesson
terms and
Rumba Y Timbal's two-year anniversary.
* Doors open 8:30 pm until 1am.
* Salsa lessons, 8:30pm - 9:30pm.
* 4 performances by some of the best performers in the
world.
* $10
DAY THREE: Sunday, May 17
4 hours of workshops with Fusion Salsera and Rumba y Timbal! Learn
some of the coolest flips and tricks by one world circuit performers
Fusion Salsera!
* 3pm Registration
* 3pm-7pm workshops with Fusion Salsera of Venezuela
and Rumba y Timbal. Salsa tricks, flips, and partnering!

3.) Mambos ONE-YEAR Anniversary Party: Mambos Goes to Rio!
When Mambos returns to 306 Stuart Street on Saturday, May 23, we will
be celebrating our one year anniversary. For the evening, we (like
usual) are mixing things up with a special new lesson to kick off the
night.
Patrick Carvalho, a professional Samba de Gafieira dancer from Rio de
Janeiro, will be touring the USA for the month of May, and as he
passes through Massachussetts, he'll be stopping by Mambos to teach a
special Samba de Gafieira lesson, Saturday, May 23!
Mambos has signed a contract to have Patrick perform and teach at
Mambos for our special event May 23. You will get to learn how to
dance this creative style of samba AND see it performed live on Mambos
first floor!
Mambos first floor will be a mix of samba, salsa merengue and bachata.
Mambos second floor will be straight-ahead salsa with DJ el Turco.
MIT SALSA CLUB will be teaching an ADVANCED LESSON on Mambos Second Floor!
Both Floors of lessons begin at 9:30pm. Free with admission, no
partner necessary.

5.) NEW Private Lesson Information!
Private lessons are finally available for solo men! If you have
emailed Chris in the past about taking private lessons but you didn't
have a partner to learn with, you will now have one made a available
to you.
Lessons are now available during the week at various times. Contact
Chris with at least two days and times that you have available and he
will fit you into his schedule! His email is cgzebo at gmail.com.
Private lessons are a fun and affordable way to learn salsa dancing
quickly. The private lesson setting allows each dancer the opportunity
to address his or her own needs directly to a teacher.
Private lessons are available for solo dancers, for couples and for
groups up to 5--all for the same price.
Currently taught at MIT!
Lessons are currently available Mondays thru Thursdays. No Fridays.
Lessons are available on Saturdays and Sundays for higher rates.
New Rates:
Weekdays: $40 per hour
Weekends: $60 per hour
