1. MIT Salsa Club's Club Style Cha Cha Lessons are ON Next Week!

MIT's Annual Workshops continue next week with the following:

***** Both Lessons Held in Morss Hall, Walker Memorial Building, 7pm - 8:30pm.

*Monday, January 12: Introduction to Club-Style Cha Cha!

Dancers will learn the basics of dancing cha cha On2 (on the second beat). After an hour and a half, dancers will have enough of the basics down to effortlessly enjoy cha cha dancing, club-style.

*Tuesday, January 13: Advanced Beginner Club-Style Cha Cha!

All dancers should be very familiar with the basics of cha cha dancing and should be dancing salsa at the advanced beginner level. Students will learn a cool combination or two in an hour and a half's time.

2.) MIT Salsa's Winter Gala, Saturday, January 17th!

What can you get today for $5 besides one of those footlong sandwiches from Subway?

How about a one-hour salsa lesson, a full night of heavy dancing with hundreds of people, dance performances by some of the best peformers in Boston, discounted beverages and some of the best music you've heard in a longggggg time.

MIT's Winter Salsa Gala. This party is the last of MIT's salsa socials before the big Annual Social in late May.

We recommend dressing to impress. However, we're leaving it up to you to interpret how you do this. Wear whatever you feel good/look good in. And also...wear something you won't feel bad sweating in.

Beginner and advanced beginner salsa lessons will be taught before the dance floor opens to social dancing.

All proceeds will go towards purchasing new sound equipment for MITSC's weekly lessons and events.

A very hot night of dancing last Friday! Special thanks to Roberto of Rumba y Timbal for sharing his love of bachata dancing with Mambos' lesson-takers. He will be back for a special bachata lesson at Mambos' Valentines Day event.

This Friday, Mambos is keeping its New Year's resolutions and giving Mambos dancers free music and new amenities (read Mambos Mail for more details). DJ Ricardo is behind the booth with his sweat-inducing, ear-piercing sets and...we've got towels and earplugs to save your hearing and to keep you dry. We've also got some funky new lesson offerings this week (read below).

Lessons This Week:

On the first floor, MIT Salsa will be teaching an intro to salsa AND bachata dancing this week. These lessons are always fun for beginners and you'll learn enough in one hour to keep you dancing all night long! No partner or experience necessary. **Please try to arrive early for the beginners lessons to guarantee yourself a good spot in the circle. The lessons are filling up in the first half hour.

Lesson is FREE with admission.
1st floor, 9:30 to 10:30.

Mambos is pleased to offer a special lesson this Friday with Providence, RI instructors Venu and Folu. Venu will be leading a reggaeton warm-up before he delves into some funky salsa footwork and partnerwork combinations. A great lesson for dancers that think outside of the box (or would like to) and a great lesson for those that want to shake up their sense of salsa dancing.
