5.) DRYVE Salsa Dancing for a Cause Event at Mambos! Saturday, February 21st!
Join DRYVE (Dominican Republic Youth Volunteer Efforts) for one of our
biggest fundraising events ever! For this event, we're taking over
Mambos Salsa Club Saturday, February 21st! Mambos has graciously
partnered up with DRYVE to help generate funds and awareness for our
relief efforts.
The night begins with complimentary beginner salsa lessons on both
floors (9pm -10pm); so if you don't know how to dance, you'll learn!
>From 10pm to 1am, the club will be open to dancing on two floors. ALL
AGES welcome!
Proceeds from this event will be taken directly to the Dominican
Republic and put into use exactly one week later, Saturday, February
28th. Here are a few examples of the endeavors your support will make
happen:
Our first project will take place in the impoverished community of
Arroyo Blanco, located in the northern region of the Dominican
Republic.
We will be aiding elementary school children in this community by:
• Building a fence around the perimeter of the school in order to
provide safety for the children.
• Constructing a playground so that students can participate in
physical and social activities during their recess which is critical
for their psychosocial development
• The children living in the towns we're servicing on this mission
have to walk miles to draw clean water for themselves and their
families. We will be installing industrial-size biosand waterfilters
in their local communities so that it's no longer a burden to get
clean water.
• Providing school supplies for the students, which are essential for
education but cannot be afforded by their families.
• Mentoring these students on the priceless value of education and the
importance of positive decision making.
Thank you for your support and we look forward to dancing together for
a good cause, Saturday, February 21st!
