       -*-* MIT Salsa Club's Weekly Update *-*-
           
1.) Bachata Lesson this Tuesday!

***Regular salsa lessons will begin again the first week of
February.  In the meantime, MITSC is offering its fun IAP
workshop series beginning Tuesday, January 8th!  All
lessons are from 7pm to 8:30pm followed by social dancing.
Here's the January lesson schedule (free to the public):

Tuesday, January 15: Bachata!  
Lesson begins with an introduction to the basics followed
by a fun combination.  For ALL LEVELS of dancers!  This
lesson will be in Morss Hall, Walker Memorial Building.

Tuesday, January 22: Cha Cha Cha!
Lesson begins with an introduction to the basics followed
by a fun combination.  For ALL LEVELS of dancers! This
lesson will be in Morss Hall, Walker Memorial Building.

Tuesday, January 29: Ladies Spinning Technique!
Ladies have been asking for this lesson for a long time,
and it's finally here!  Always wondered how to prep and
balance for multiple spins?  Meagan will walk (or spin) you
through a spin technique workshop specially designed for
the ladies!  For ALL LEVELS of lady dancers! This lesson
will be in Morss Hall, Walker Memorial Building.

***Regular salsa lessons resume the first Monday of
February.  Beginner and advanced beginner salsa lessons
will be taught all month at Wonder Bar.       
 
2.) MLK Salsa Partay @ Wonder Bar, Sunday, January 20!

That's right!  It's a 3-day weekend next Sunday!

3.) Mambos Salsa Fridays!

We are not making a formal announcement yet, but...we want
to say a few things about the NEW club night that has been
under development:

Name of the club?  Mambos  

Grand Opening? Friday, February 1! (Gonna be a big
one--with 5 DJs, performances and plenty of surprises!)

All ages? YES!  The biggest all-ages salsa club in the
city.

Hours: 9pm to 2am

Admission: $10 

Lessons?  Yes, for beginners and advanced beginners

Location? At Dance Republic, 20 Linden St. (3rd floor),
Allston

Parking? Yes.  Tons of it and...FREE!  Right in front of
the building.  (And, if the lot runs out of spots, we have
leased another parking lot on Harvard Avenue for every
Friday night, at $5 a spot)

T-Accessible? Yes.  Harvard Avenue B Line Stop (Green
Line).  Walk down Harvard Avenue to Cambridge Street, take
a right.  The club is on the corner of Cambridge Street and
Linden Street.  The 66 bus stops directly in front of the
club.

What is the capacity?  Over 250!

Size of the room? 5,000 square feet of studio-quality dance
floor.  In addition, the club has an overflow room that
will be opened on nights that require it.  (It is
absolutely beautiful inside.)

Alcohol? Not inside the club.  However, there is a
lounge/restaurant on the first floor that will be serving
drinks to dancers with ID.
