1. MIT Salsa Club's Workshop Series Begins this Coming Monday, January 5th!
MIT Salsa is back next week! Well...MIT "Merengue" is back next week. We begin our annual workshop series Monday night with a class that brings both beginner and advanced beginner dancers together in one room. MIT Salsa's Merengue Challenge is scheduled for Monday, January 5th! Read below for more details.
* Held in Morss Hall, Walker Memorial Building, 7pm - 8:30pm.
* Monday, January 5: MIT Salsa Club's Merengue Challenge!
Join Chris and Stephanie as they take merengue and mix in some MIT-style engineering. They'll start with the basics and then they'll take you on a journey where you'll discover how far you can contort your bodies and stretch your minds. In other words: You'll all look like pretzels by the end of the lesson.
For dancers of ALL levels.

Have you missed us? Feels like a whole year has passed (or will pass) since we last danced. Mambos is back this Friday with special lessons and an old year behind its back! And while the Mambos team has been celebrating the holidays and getting fatter, we've come up with a bunch of new amenities that we'll begin offering Mambos clubbers in the new year, including free cds every week and a new "Mambotique" store at Mambos where we'll be selling (at cost, no profit) things like hand towels, ear plugs (inspired by DJ Ricardo), shoe powder, scrapers, and more for your salsa dancing pleasure. Some of these things will be free with your Mambos Card. More details in next week's Mambos Mail...
Lessons This Week:
On the first floor, MIT Salsa will be teaching an intro to salsa AND merengue dancing this week. These lessons are always fun for beginners and you'll learn enough in one hour to keep you dancing all night long! No partner or experience necessary. **Please try to arrive early for the beginners lessons to guarantee yourself a good spot in the circle. The lessons are filling up in the first half hour.
Lesson is FREE with admission.
1st floor, 9:30 to 10:30.
On the second floor, Mambos is pleased to offer a special lesson this Friday to celebrate the new year! Rumba y Timbal Dance Co. will be in the house teaching advanced beginner bachata dancing for Mambos' dancers. RyT Director Roberto Figueroa will be sharing some of his slick bachata skills with Mambos lesson-takers on Mambos' second floor. Students should have some general familiarity with bachata.
