-*-* MIT Salsa Club's Weekly Update *-*-
1. No MIT Salsa Lessons Until September :(
BUT...There are Tons of Ways to Dance and to Learn to Dance Until Then!
All regular MIT salsa lessons will resume September 15. In the meantime, there are many different ways (free, complimentary, or $$$) to dance until then.
Here is a list of 3:
A.) Take advantage of Mambos' complimentary lessons on Friday nights. There's nothing else like them. Dancers can learn from different talented instructors every week. You can experience a new style and new moves every Friday night with instructors from Boston, Rhode Island, Worcester and more. Think about it: when would have the time to travel all over the place to learn from these instructors? Mambos' brings them to you. Most dancers never had this kind of opportunity until now. Lessons begin at 9:30pm and are included in the admission price. Click here to see who's teaching next (bottom of the following web page): http://www.mambosentertainment.com/salsafridays.html
Also, don't forget that MIT Salsa teaches the beginner salsa lesson every week on Mambos' 1st floor. The more people that show up from the MIT Lessons, the more likely that Chris will teach a new move. So, if you're a beginner dancer at MIT Salsa, come out to Mambos and hop in the circle!
B.) Private lessons. Not only are they the cheapest in town, but you'll learn sooooo much from just one private lesson. Your dancing will improve drastically in one day. Not kidding. Imagine having someone tell you how to improve your dancing every minute for one hour! (Read below for rates and availability. They're cheap!)
C.) Join a practice group. MIT Salsa was created for two reasons; first, to bring people together; second, to teach and share salsa dancing. Get together with others. Start discussions on MIT Salsa's Facebook group
(http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=2209203537). MIT Salsa's Facebook group has 935 members. There are plenty of people to dance with! Start a revolution. Get people together. Motivate. Whatever it takes, there are tons of people that want to dance together. And don't forget: you can practice MIT Salsa moves by referencing past lesson videos. Want to see how fun the lessons are at Mambos? This is a good week to make it out. Salsa Storm, a fun dance company from Worcester, MA is traveling out to Boston this week to teach! These guys are a crowd favorite. Down to earth, fun and professional. You can see a video of Salsa Storm's Annette and Ray dancing at Mambos here:

Second video from the top.
Lesson begins at 9:30. Free with admission.

Chris and Jenny will be teaching beginners the basic steps and a new beginner move this week. If you're an MIT Salsa Clubber, come out and hop in the lesson circle. The more MITSC's we see, the more likely we're to teach a cool move. No experience or partner necessary, 9:30 - 10:30.
* Fun salsa lessons for beginners (first floor) and
advanced beginners (second floor). No partner or experience necessary.
* All Ages!
* DJ el Turco

3.) Private Lesson Information.
New Rates:

Private lessons are a fun and affordable way to learn salsa
dancing quickly. The private lesson setting allows each

5.) Would You Like to Help the Arts in Boston?
Hello MIT Salseros,
I was recently approached by a group called Champions USA that provides after-school programs for local high schools in the Boston area. They are desperately trying to return the arts to schools in Greater Boston and the country. As you may know, over the years, funding has been cut for the arts all over the USA. As a result, children are not learning how to be artistically expressive in schools anymore. They're not learning how to socialize creatively through the arts. In my opinion, learning how to foster relationships via a constructive medium such as the arts is extremely valuable. Not only for kids, but for adults as well. That's why Tracy and I created MIT Salsa Club almost 3 years ago.
Today, I'm being asked to take it to the next level.
Originally, when I embarked upon the MIT salsa project, I had planned to take my ambitions in this direction. I always wanted to expand the arts in positive ways throughout the city and I always saw MIT Salsa as a medium for opening people up to being creative and expressive, giving to others and reaching out to many different cultures and sharing what we all have in common: the arts.
But I can't do it alone. I'm already overwhelmed...
I'm looking to build a team of people that would like to share their love of salsa dancing with kids that need exposure to the arts. If you're interested and want to learn more, please email me at vegas76 at yahoo.com.
We would only be helping one hour a day, Mon-Thur, from Sept-June.
Thanks for reading,
Chris Zebo
