MIT Salsa Club's 1 2 3...
1) All lessons are on for this week!
Both this week's Monday Lessons (7PM) and Tuesday Lesson
(7:30PM) will be in Morss Hall.
These are the FINAL LESSONS of the term! Then we're on
break for 3 weeks.
When IAP begins, we'll be offering a four-week workshop
series (http://student.mit.edu/iap/nssalsa.html) taught by
MIT Salsa Club instructors and a special four-week "Salsa
for Gringos" beginner-lesson series taught by
SalsaBoston.com's Olaf. Both classes will begin the week of
January 8. Stay tuned for more details!
AND the Spring term for regular salsa lessons (Beginner,
Advanced Beginner and Intermediate) will begin the first
week of February. We'll be teaching all new material and
we're excited to welcome our new instructor ("The British
ARE COMING!" Well...one of them, at least). Tomorrow's
lesson will be given in honor of Ophir's arrival in
January, so come and learn a salsa combo "a la Ophir"
without the English accent!
2) Larry Harlow Concert, THIS SATURDAY, December 23!
If you've visited the MIT Salsa Club website lately, you
might have noticed a suspicious link for "Larry Harlow"
posted underneath the Salsa Club banner. Yes. It's true!
Larry Harlow, of Fania All Stars fame, IS coming to Boston
this Saturday, December 23.
For those of you who know Harlow's music, you won't need
any more motivation to buy tickets to the concert. This
will be a big event for the Boston salsa community and
you'll want to be there to dance and to appreciate Harlow's
music.
For those of you less familiar with Larry Harlow, this is
your chance to experience a living salsa legend! Harlow
was partly responsible for bringing salsa music to larger
audiences and for innovating the "salsa brava" sound in the
late 60s and 70s. His contributions to the world salsa
community are without parallels! And you can bet that some
of his songs have put blisters on your feet in the
past--and you might not have even known you were dancing to
his songs!
Don't come to the concert expecting to see some dusty, old
salsa grandfather wiping the cobwebs of his piano keys.
Harlow's energy will sweep you out of your seat and have
you sweating on the dance floor all night long!
As an added benefit, MIT Salsa Club has been given a BIG
DISCOUNT. Regular tickets at the door will cost $35. But
MIT Salsa Club members are being given $15 discounts! Yep!
The ticket price for us is $20! But you can only get the
discount one way. If you're going to attend the concert,
send an email to Hernan at
hernan at bostonsalsero.com<http://us.f608.mail.yahoo.com/ym/Compose?To=hernan@bostonsalsero.com&YY=27008&y5beta=yes&y5beta=yes&order=down&sort=date&pos=0>telling
him that you are a member of MIT Salsa Club and that you
want to purchase the discounted ticket. He'll reply back
with a special link for you to purchase your ticket online.
For more info about Harlow and the concert, click the
following link: http://www.bostonsalsero.com/harlow.html
If you miss this event, you're probably going to feel sorry
later...
