Subject: [Rooftops] Wireless Wan Setup

I would like any info or help on setup a wireless wan, there are a few of us interested in setup a wireless wan around town mostly for personal use and internet access, I have read several webpage on how MIT did it by putting wireless antenna on there fireplace in there apartments I just would like to know what type on equipment was use as in types of antennas, routers, brides, gateways and how they where configured and what king of range they had.
