[Reporting-announce] Tableau Maintenance Tonight

Sorry for the short notice, but Tableau will be unavailable tonight to address the Apache Log4j2 vulnerability (Log4shell)<https://kb.tableau.com/articles/issue/Apache-Log4j2-vulnerability-Log4shell?utm_campaign=2020225_EGCustService_TRANS_USCA_en-US_2021-12-15_T1-log4j_update&utm_medium=Email&utm_source=Eloqua&domain=mit.edu&eid=CTBLS000008773247&elqTrackId=4489b8d324b14d25adfa0356b5546712&elq=e5f415fa53c34e328b0c8bc1fe15a056&elqaid=53231&elqat=1&elqCampaignId=52414> mentioned in last week. I’ve included that communication at the end of this email in case you’ve missed it.

The maintenance will take place between 9:00pm and 11:00pm. During this time, you will not have access to reports on Tableau server: tableau.mit.edu<http://tableau.mit.edu/>. You can find status information on: 3down.mit.edu<http://3down.mit.edu/>.

Tableau has informed us of security vulnerability requiring updates to their software. If you’re interested, you can read about it in their Knowledge Base Article: Apache Log4j2 vulnerability (Log4shell)<https://kb.tableau.com/articles/issue/Apache-Log4j2-vulnerability-Log4shell?utm_campaign=2020225_EGCustService_TRANS_USCA_en-US_2021-12-15_T1-log4j_update&utm_medium=Email&utm_source=Eloqua&domain=mit.edu&eid=CTBLS000008773247&elqTrackId=4489b8d324b14d25adfa0356b5546712&elq=e5f415fa53c34e328b0c8bc1fe15a056&elqaid=53231&elqat=1&elqCampaignId=52414>.

To address this vulnerability, Tableau has rolled out updates for several of their latest versions. It is recommended to stay with our server version. To do so, you’ll need to upgrade to Tableau 2021.1.9<https://www.tableau.com/support/releases/desktop/2021.1.9>. If you’re on another version, it is recommended to update to a version containing the update. Downloads can be found here: https://www.tableau.com/support/releases.

Versions released Dec 15, 2021 and later should have the patch.

There should be a note under the Resolved Issues stating: Contains updates to Log4J 2.15.0 to mitigate against CVE-2021-44228
