Solving optimization problems using an eight qubit superconducting circuit
Abstract:
The state of the art in superconducting quantum electronics has reached the point where it appears feasible to build an adiabatic quantum optimization processor based on them. D-Wave is currently building such a device. In this talk I will discuss: the high-level architecture; the design of the qubits and supporting devices; measurements of qubit performance and noise characterization; and measurements on a scalable 8-qubit unit cell where optimization problems are downloaded to the chip by a handful of digital lines leading to on-chip control circuitry (SFQ) which configure the qubits and couplers.
