Dear Purple Blurb participants,

First off, I have a new book out and will be presenting it with two of my
co-authors, Patsy Baudoin and Noah Vawter, tonight (Monday night) at 7pm,
at the Harvard Book Store (1256 Massachusetts Avenue in Cambridge). This
is not an official Purple Blurb event, but I assume it will interest some
of you.

The book, written by 10 of us in a single voice, is about a one-line
program that offers a way to consider popular programming, randomness and
regularity in the arts, the maze in computing, BASIC, the Commodore 64,
and more...

The event is...

And beyond that, we have an additional Purple Blurb event that was not
originally on the schedule. Prof. Al Filreis of the University of
Pennsylvania and that campus's Kelly Writers House will join me in
conversation to discuss the latest iteration of his Modern Poetry course.
Al has been doing remarkable work at Penn but some time, but most recently
his Modern Poetry class has dramatically expanded -- he's now teaching
34,000 students via Coursera.

Al will discuss the class and other writing interventions at Penn that
have involved digital collaboration and the use of digital media: The
Writers House and also PennSound, the Web's major archive of readings of
poetry.
