Dear friends,

The MIT Organization of Serbian Students (MOST) is making a
celebration to honour its Patron Saint, St. Simeon the Myrrflowing. You
can find more information about St. Simeon the Myrrflowing, and about the
tradition of "Slava", a distinction of the Serbs, at
<http://web.mit.edu/most/www/links.html> and at
<http://web.mit.edu/most/www/slava.html>.

EVENT: PATRON SAINT DAY DINNER.
DATE: Wednesday, February 26, 2003.
TIME: 7pm
LOCATION:: Eastgate Penthouse Lounge, 60 Wadsworth Street,
Cambridge <http://web.mit.edu/eastgate/map.html>
COST: Free.
DESCRIPTION: Join us, as we celebrate for the third time, MOST's Patron
Saint Day. We will again serve a dinner, but this year it will be lenten,
because the Orthodox Christian rules demand that food is lenten on Wednesdays.

Dear friends,

Each Eastern Orthodox Serbian family has a particular Patron
Saint. The same Patron Saint becomes the protector of the family of each
of the sons, and this tradition goes back to the time when one's ancestors
accepted Christianity. Besides families, a tradition is that firms,
associations and institutions also have a Patron Saint. This gives all
members of the community an additional responsibility not to diverge from
the righteous path of their Patron Saint, and stands as a source of
spiritual strength.

When one founds a family, he invites his relatives and some of his
friends to come on the day of the Patron Saint, the day also called as
"Slava". After a few years, he does not send invitations, the friends
know, and come themselves. The friends invited to a "Slava" make a special
category of friends, a category defined by the "Slava" itself. Their
honour becomes the family's honour, and their worries those of the family
as well.

Like a young family, MOST is celebrating its "Slava" for the third
time, and you are one of the people we decided to invite. We would be
delighted if you became our "Slava" friend in future.

With respect,

     Mrdjan Mladjan,
     The President of MOST
