Can't you start a new client to connect to the same server?
This is the goal of the MOSH_KEY environment variable isn't it?

Warning: Do not use the MOSH_KEY environment variable on a multi-user
machine whose OS does not provide a protection to prevent users from
reading the environment of other users' processes. See e.g.
