Hello everyone,
I'd like to share a script I wrote to simplify working with Mosh: https://github.com/diraneyya/mossh
It was born out of my homelab experimentation (https://forum.proxmox.com/threads/use-mobile-shell-mosh-with-proxmox.173209/) and a few days of trying to use Mosh to connect to my Android phone. Unfortunately, I was defeated by carrier-grade NAT, even when using IPv6 addresses.
Initially, I created the script to reach my phone through a reverse SSH tunnel to a low-cost IONOS VPS, then SSHing to the phone from there. While you can Mosh to the IONOS host and use mossh's jump capability for the final hop, that largely defeats the purpose of using Mosh.
The result is a tool that makes evaluating and using Mosh quick and easy by handling common setup obstacles—auto-installing Mosh when missing, handling locale, discovering public IP, and also allowing a jump action using SSH (useful in a homelab environment when using Mosh to connect to the hypervisor node)
I hope some of you find it useful!
Kind regards,
Orwa
