Mosh runs over udp, does keystroke prediction,
and is not reliant on tcp behavior at all. It behaves much better
than ssh does when experiencing packet loss.

And it supports resuming a session from a new ip address endpoint
over normal ipv4 from behind natted connections.

Running a mosh-like protocol directly over hip is certainly feasible.
There is ipv6 support for it already. But that loses on mobility.

ssh is only used in mosh for the initial handshake authentication.
hip has that built in but relies on the endpoints having hip support.
