Thanks for the speedy answer.
Obviously, if OpenSSL didn't come with GCM, it is completely
understandable you didn't roll your own (always a bad idea for crypto,
and GCM is especially painful).

About the speed issue (not a big one here, indeed), it heavily depends
on the instruction set available.
