Hello,
I've received numerous emails this morning from MIT Verizon Wireless Corporate users regarding the below email from Verizon Wireless and whether or not it's legitimate (as opposed to a phishing/scam email). I've been in contact with our Verizon Wireless team and can confirm the email is legitimate. We'll continue working with Verizon Wireless to improve the delivery of future message in hopes of avoiding unnecessary confusion and concern.
If you have any questions regarding the below email, and or your Verizon Wireless Corporate account. Please feel free to reach out to MIT's Verizon Wireless team. Their information can be found here > http://kb.mit.edu/confluence/x/9YV_/
Best Regards,
Matthew Sullivan

>> IMPORTANT INFORMATION
>> FROM VERIZON WIRELESS.
>> ACCOUNT ACCESS UPDATES -
>> NEW AUTHENTICATION PIN REQUIREMENT
>> Verizon continually seeks to improve our service and provide you with convenient and secure access to your account. You are receiving this notification as an identified customer that recently used the Federal Tax ID for validation in our system. We want to make sure you are aware of account access updates and our continued efforts to preserve the integrity of your company's security.
>> As of January 19, 2013, Verizon will implement an enhanced verification process for our business customers when calling into our service centers for support. This verification process involves removing the option of using the last four digits of your company's Federal Tax ID to perform transactions within our automated system. Likewise, the Federal Tax ID will no longer be used to verify your account information when speaking with any of our service center phone representatives. Instead, an authentication PIN will be required.
>> If you do not currently have an authentication PIN, please complete this authorization form and return it to CorporatePassword at VerizonWireless.com.
>> In the event that your information is not updated by January 19, 2013, our representatives will be able to use an alternate form of verification to ensure you are able to receive assistance. We will also give you steps to update your account with an authentication PIN so you have secure access to our automated system and representative support going forward.
>> Our goal is to provide you with secure and seamless service.
>> We appreciate your business.
