Hello,

IS&T will discontinue support for the Windows Mobile 5 platform and devices, effective December 1, 2010. Online documentation for this mobile operating system will remain in place until that date.

There are two main reasons for de-supporting Windows Mobile 5:

· The major U.S. carriers no longer ship mobile devices with Windows Mobile 5 installed.

· Windows Mobile 5 receives only limited support from Microsoft; this support will be phased out as Microsoft moves forward with the release of Windows Phone 7 later this year.

For those currently using a mobile device running Windows Mobile 5, IS&T suggests migrating to other supported platforms, including current BlackBerry devices or the iPhone. If you need assistance in determining your next device or have any questions about the de-support process, please send email to mobile-help at mit.edu<mailto:mobile-help at mit.edu>.

If you need help in configuring your new mobile device, please refer to the Mobile Device page<http://kb.mit.edu/confluence/x/XQdS> in Hermes.

Thanks,
Justin Fleming
