I would like to remind everyone that we will have our first Mobile Partners Meeting this afternoon (2pm at N42 Demo Room). Today's topic will be Windows Mobile (an Overview).

Here are some news items that might be of interest:

1. Announcement of Samsung Blackjack (Windows Mobile 5.0 Smartphone: Cingular UMTS/HSDPA/EDGE/GPRS)

Another Windows Mobile 5.0 Smartphone device that resembles BlackBerry devices. Similar form factor as Motorola Q and T-Mobile Dash. It's one of the first U.S. devices with HSDPA support (Cingular's new high-speed 3G data network comparable to EVDO in speed).

[Impact on MIT: There will be more device choices in this category and the prices are falling rapidly. Motorola Q is already priced below $100 with carrier incentives.]

2. "BlackBerry Massage" for overworked hands

This is not a joke :-) Try not to get too attached to your mobile devices. As using those tiny keypads to type out messages may result in injuries.

"The American Physical Therapy Association in Alexandria, Va., and other occupational organizations warn that improper use and overuse of personal digital assistants (PDAs) can lead to hand throbbing, tendonitis and swelling, a condition known as BlackBerry Thumb, named after the popular PDA."
